Shawnda Metellus M.S., CCC-SLP and Director

Shawnda is a passionate entrepreneur and the proud owner of Something 2 Talk About, Inc, a women-owned and minority-owned business established in 2006. With a vision to empower communities and foster inclusivity, Shawda has dedicated over 15 years to building a brand that not only delivers quality products/services but also champions diversity and equality in the business landscape.

Originally hailing from the picturesque landscapes of North Carolina, Shawnda has dedicated her career to the field of communication science and disorders. She embarked on her academic journey at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders. During her undergraduate studies, Shawnda honed her skills as an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapist, gaining valuable hands-on experience that would shape her professional path.

After graduating, Shawnda relocated to the District of Columbia (DC), where she continued her impactful work as an ABA therapist while furthering her education. She enrolled in Howard University, where her passion for helping others flourished. In 2001, she proudly obtained her Master’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders with a specialization in private practice, marking a significant milestone in her professional journey.

Certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Interactive Metronome (IM) certified, Shawnda holds state licenses in both Maryland and DC, allowing her to provide exceptional care and support to her clients. Her expertise and dedication in the field empower her to make a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

As a proud mother of two children, Shawnda draws inspiration from her own experiences of motherhood, which fuels her commitment to working with children of all ages. Her compassionate approach and dedication to fostering communication skills ensure that each child receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs. Shawnda continues to be a passionate advocate for the importance of effective communication and its role in the lives of children and families
