Something 2 Talk About, Inc. (S2TA) established in 2007, provides quality early intervention and therapeutic services to assist parents of special needs and atypically developing children, learn to communicate effectively with their children

Our journey is to help parents of children with special needs and atypical development learn how to communicate with their children. It is because of our leadership, patience and determination that we strive to keep our promise to each parent that their child will communicate to the best of their abilities.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide quality early intervention and therapy while training parents through observation in a structured therapeutic setting, by educating and teaching proven strategies that helps children break through the walls of communication.

Our Approach

We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles and personalities. Our highly qualified and experienced therapists are committed to working within each child’s comfort zone, while challenging the children to ensure optimal results and progress toward established treatment goals.

Shawnda Metellus

M.S.,CCC-SLP Director

Originally from North Carolina, Shawnda graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders while working as an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapist. Upon graduating, Shawnda continued to work as an ABA therapist in the District of Columbia (DC) while attending graduate school at Howard University. She obtained her Master’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders with a concentration in private practice in 2001. Shawnda is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Interactive Metronome (IM) certified. Shawnda maintains state licenses for Maryland and DC. Shawnda is the proud mother of two children, who inspire her to work with children of all ages.

Caritza Patterson


Ms. Patterson is a North Carolina native who currently resides in P. G. County, Maryland. Ms. Patterson is a recent graduate from the University of the District of Columbia with a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and is currently completing her Clinical Fellowship Year at S2TA. Ms. Patterson has been a member of the S2TA Family since August of 2017 starting as an SLP-Assistant. Ms. Patterson has been a part of the Speech-Language Pathology community since 2010 and has background knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Antoria Yates


Ms. Yates is a South West Florida native currently living in Bowie, MD. She received her Bachelors of Science (B.S.) in Communicative Science and Disorders at Alabama A&M University and Masters of Science (M.S.) in Speech Language Pathology at the University of the District of Columbia. Ms. Yates has worked in the school systems and private practices as an SLP-A for over 6 years. She is currently completing her Clinical Fellowship Year with Something 2 Talk About, Inc. Ms. Yates is passionate about communication and helping families find their voice.

Andria Adegbesan


Ms. Adegbesan has 4 years of experience working with pediatrics in the school and private practice settings. She received a B.A. in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Hampton University and an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland. Ms. Adegbesan is passions include early intervention for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and working with children with articulation/phonological processing disorders.

COVID-19 considerations:

To keep our staff, clients, and families safe S2TA strictly reinforces CDC regulations: Social distancing, temperatures taken, hand sanitizer, and shoe covers. Masks are required before the entrance. Therapists are required to wear PPE gear.


Staff are professional and work extremely hard with their client to help them learn and to grow. S2TA staff are appreciated.
